PUCL- OBSERVE BLACK DAY- August 14, 2007......

The Chhattisgarh PUCL had an extended meeting on 29th July 2007, in which it was decided to observe 14th August 2007 as a Black Day keeping 24-hours Vigil from 12 Noon to 12 Mid-night at Raipur. (Please see below, and the attachment)



14th August 2007 will also mark three months of Dr. Binayak Sen's illegal detention under the Draconian
The preliminary announcement is enclosed herewith. Details will follow!
Dr. Sen was presented yesterday in the court of the CJM, but the State has taken time to file the Charge Sheet on 2nd August, 2007.




The next legal step will be taken only after studying the Charge Sheet. However, it has already been decided to approach the Supreme Court of India for Dr. Sen's Bail challenging the Chhattisgarh High Court's Order rejecting the Bail.

The REPEAL of the Chhattisgarh Vishesh Jan Suraksha Adhiniyam, 2005; and the release of Dr Binayak Sen, General Secretary, Chhattisgarh PUCL, and all other citizens of Chhattisgarh incarcerated under this draconian law;


· Withdrawal of all false and motivated cases lodged in respect of social activists Subhash Mohapatra, Himanshu Kumar, Amarnath Pandey, DP Yadav, and others.


· Genuine, free, fair and democratic consultation with all groups of persons (and their representatives) being affected/ displaced by proposed projects, companies, SEZs and SIZs in the state.
