Six months ago, Bahur Singh's son, Santosh, took poison after his watermelon crop failed.
A small farmer in Ghoradi village in Mahasamund district, he was steeped in debt. Paralysed and unable to move, an angry Bahur Singh said the government refused to acknowledge Santosh's suicide, let alone help.
"My son died because he drank something; no one has done anything," he said.
